Everyone wants to talk about tonight’s big “UAP report” release, so I’ve made a space at Proof for everyone to do so. I don’t have any expertise in or really even much interest in UFOs or UAPs—basic science suggests that alien life exists, but I doubt if we’ll ever encounter it due to the limitations imposed by space and time—but let’s have a conversation on it. My take: the case hasn’t been made yet that these are either manmade objects or extraterrestrial objects; the evidence isn’t there to draw either conclusion; and until there’s sufficient proof to really work with—or even proof enough to build a theory of the case—this will remain a mystery. A worthwhile topic, but a mystery.
Many have argued that since several of these objects don't seem to follow known physics, this is proof that they are alien in origin. I find that kind of "logic" irrational. In almost every case of human observations that defy physics, it ultimately proves to be measurement error, and on the rarest of occasions, a new discovery which required the use of the large hadron collider at CERN. One thing I have argued is that no matter what technology is contained within the UAP, if it is operating within our atmosphere there are certain basic rules of aerodynamics which are unavoidable. If an object takes up space, it must displace a volume of air. Doing this creates pressure waves, and if fast enough, shock waves. Claims of tens of thousands of kilometres per hour without any sound (or sonic booms) are not proof of alien technology: they are proof of observational error.
I was with a group of Air Force Academy cadets in 1965 when an Air Force captain described a sighting of three cigar shaped UFOs by his entire bomber squadron at close range over the Gulf of Mexico before they deployed for the Korean War. Since then I’ve followed UFO reporting. I also spent a week with Dr. Steven Greer in his Ambassador to the Universe program concerned with UFO contact protocols. The things we saw in that program and afterwards on my own using his protocols - craft-like objects that would appear and then vanish, objects streaking across the sky in formation at low altitude and extremely high speed and totally silent - provided no physical evidence of physical craft or Extraterrestrial life - suggest that these objects are the products of some form of intelligence that is open to communication with us. The report released today is the kind of garbage you would release if you wanted to play ignorant and didn’t want to provide hard evidence as to what is out there. If interested, read Steven Greer, M.D.’s work, Richard Dolan, Nick Pope.
The notion of aliens in spaceships is all too anthropocentric. If there is alien life in the universe, a concept I consider plausible on the basis of numbers and time alone, I'd also be surprised if it took any form we would recognize, much less "spaceships" and little green men.
Our universe is estimated to be over 14 billion years old. Earth is estimated to be about 4 billion years old. There is a possibility that other intelligent life exists & is billions of years ahead of us technologically. It's a mathematical near certainty that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe.
There are numerous theories that explain how it could be possible for intelligent life from many lightyears away to visit Earth. The Einstein-Rosen bridge is just 1. Warp drives, jump drives and others are possibilities. Teleportation is another way.
As for evidence of intelligent life other than humans & our ancestors being on Earth, there's plenty in existence that supports the possibility. From petroglyphs dating back thousands of years depicting humanoids in flying crafts to 12,000 year old structures built using blocks of stone that weighed more than 1200 - 1600 tons without machinery.
Many people, including some in high positions of different world governments have cited that aliens exist, have visited Earth repeatedly over Earth's history & are here today.
I think most of us feel the need to see ET standing right in front of us performing a seemingly impossible task before we'd believe. But that's unlikely to happen anytime soon if we're lucky. Remember, they could be billions of years ahead of us technologically & we are not a friendly species. We could cause them to destroy us like we squash an ant or a wasp or kill a snake that we deem a threat.
Knowing their technological possibilities, it's entirely reasonable to believe that they could be here & remain virtually undetected because we just can't see them or capture them on our inferior equipment.
I've read a lot of comments from unimaginative people or egotistical people that say there is no way that aliens are here. That's human arrogance to think that we're the pinnacle of God's creation.
Ancient Aliens is a great show that can open the mind to the possibility of Alien existence on Earth. It's a lot of opinion based commentary, but some of the evidence they show raises questions about the history we were taught in school.
I’ve read reports that Navy pilots are encountering these objects on a daily basis off the western coast.
Is there any chance that the multi billion dollar military industrial complex in the USA could equip these aircraft with some half decent photography equipment so as to record these encounters???
Y’know…….. so the rest of us can have a proper look???
The report is termed a "preliminary assessment." My reading of it suggests that reports before 2004 were too sketchy to include. Reports of UAPs between 2004 and 2021 were not standardized. The report indicates that there is a need for military and government-wide standard reports. The report also states that damage to career reputations and social stigma has hampered past reporting.
But, this report is an advance. It does state that after the first four categories of UAPs are exhausted, there is a fifth catergory: the unexplained. The report indicates that there are some UAPs that are real "physical objects", detected by multiple sensor systems, and that exhibit "unusual flight characteristics" or "signature management." The report also notes that current sensor systems may not be fully capable of detecting UAPs.
Essentially the report is a mea culpa by the DOD and CIA. We stigmatized and threatened professional ruin to anyone suggesting that UAP/UFO were real physical objects that displayed unusual flight characteristics. We did not take the issue seriously from a flight safety or national security perspective. We did not collect standardized data and we did not do rigorous, scientific measurements and testing. The reports and measurements we do have are not sufficient to reach high confidence assessments.
So, as small potatoes as it might seem, I see it as a big leap forward.
The real tell in this is the statement that foreign adversaries or foreign collection platforms can be ruled out. I mean military intelligence--after they explain a UAP by known objects and weather and sensor malfunctions--is going to look at the foreign threat. That is what military intelligence does. And the operational side of the US military is going to know if a UAP is an experimental advanced US aircraft. I mean give them some credit.
I think the report indicates that the DOD, the Intelligence Community, the FAA, the FBI, and other government agencies will now take the UAP problem more seriously. It is the future reports that will demonstrate what we know and do not know about UAPs.
First, if there are what we here think of as "alien" life forms, would we even recognize them? How long did it take us to know there were thousands of microorganisms living on our own skin? And secondly, if there are recognizable life forms, how does this alter your life personally?
I think it would be FAR more interesting to have a conversation about Oumuamua, and the respected scientist who thinks it could have been a cast-off solar sail from an alien probe. Though a lot less people are familiar with that story than with UFOs generally.
"Many people are saying, and asking, what are these UAPs? Why are they here? Are they trying to advance the radical left agenda? I'll be addressing this on my upcoming tour with Bill O'Reilly, you won't want to miss it, folks" *humps US flag*
Show me a high definition high speed RGB video trace.
They could use technology that’s been around for, y’know, decades.
Technology that millions of people have on their smartphone in their pocket.
There are hundreds of thousands of crystal clear videos uploaded to YouTube every week on all matter of subjects but when the DOD releases something UFO/UAP related I always feel a little bit disappointed with their motion capture technology.
I find it hard to fathom that one part of our military might have technology that another part of our military sees and cannot explain. The number of people that would have to work on such a project make it near impossible that a secret like that could be kept. I suspect it is an inter-dimensional phenomena, other beings that co-exist on our physical planet in a different time plane. Due to some inexplicable quirk of physics we sometimes catch a glimpse. They probably see us as well and have just as much trouble explaining what they are seeing. There could be multiple dimensions all running along in parallel. Maybe Bigfoot is in some other dimension. Perhaps "ghosts" are merely beings from another dimension. Somebody from another dimension could inhabit the same space as me, living in a home in the same spot as my home and our paths "cross" constantly yet we are unaware of each other because we do not exist in the same reality.
The problem is that people don't understand what they are looking at. People have to remember that (most) of the images are taken while moving. This can create very unnatural seeming movement.
For example, an object moving in a direction, let's say north flying at 15,000ft captures a common object, like a bird, below at 2000ft flying south.
The video is taken at a speed of 500mph and the object taken is traveling at 40mph.
The distortion of our perception comes from the parallax created making it look like a bird is traveling at incredible speed when in fact it is not. There is nothing unusual going on.
If you want to really understand, then take a non-permanent marker and put a dot on an outside window. Now take your camera and walk past the dot keeping your camera perfectly fixed on the dot.
Now replay the video. Notice how quickly the background moves even though, in this case, the dot is standing still? That is called parallax.
If the video taker moves, the object can seem to make incredible movements when in fact it is the video taker that is moving.
All this information can be seen in the HUD of the aircraft that shows speed, direction, altitude etc and this info tells you about what motion the camera is experiencing.
I think, and here I'm just speculating, but to capture a bird from several miles away and track it with pinpoint accuracy might be a way of showing our adversaries that we can track objects like drones (about bird sized)....Now I could be totally wrong here, but I think it's a technical feat that might be harder than most realize and it might be a strategic release of info, because while the American public is enamored with what they see, the Russians know EXACTLY what they are seeing.
If aliens were visiting Earth from a distant place, the evolutionary scale would likely be opposites, to put it mildly. I would imagine the aliens would interpret us in the same way we see flying ants/bugs. I have never looked at a bug and wondered what it thinks of me. It would not matter if that bug had metal wings it made to fly around; we'd probably still figure the ants/bugs picked up scrap pieces of things lying around to do ant/bug things. If an ant/bug gets too close, we swat it away like it is background noise and walk away living our lives.
I would have an easier time believing the UFOs/UAPs the scientists working for Governments are experimenting with some *sort of* tech (possibly in the distant future), causing these objects to appear in our time randomly. From their perspective, the experiments could look like failures if the results they are hoping for do not come to fruition.
I have zero doubts aliens exist in the universe somewhere, but to travel this distance to watch an ant/bug scurry about hardly seems like a productive use of their abilities. I could see them popping into our environment to scoop up some needed hydrogen in the water molecules for possible propulsion requirements or something.
What makes us consider it is 'us' they are visiting? For all we know, the aliens have more in common with dolphins or whales and seeing them.
I’m not a UFO buff. I’m a Zennie. I don’t think aliens existing or not defines us or matters. Having said that I saw something in the mid 2000s that was not Russian or Chinese or American.
I was surfing off Long Beach on Vancouver Island, adjacent to the Tofino/Uclulet airport. It was a warm day with small waves. I was facing shore. Above the airport was a bright glowing object about 400 meters long and half that wide. The size/shape of an elementary school maybe. A pure rectangle though. No idea what it was, but I saw it. Can still see it in my mind’s eye. It disappeared as fast as it appeared, before I could get my surfing buddy to turn back from the waves. No, I don’t smoke pot.
I've seen UFO's several times. A few of these sightings were pretty close up. The flying objects can zoom across the sky in a flash, then suddenly stop and hover. They can split into more than one object, then form back into a single object. No, I'm not crazy. I wasn't hallucinating. I know what I saw because others with me saw them too. If you haven't seen one of these amazing objects, then how much time do you spend looking up at the sky? (Tip: You're not going to see things in the sky if you don't look up.)
Government knows so much more than it will divulge, but it's classified beyond even what most presidents can access (Jimmy Carter tried desperately). See Unacknowledged on Netflix, by Dr. Steven Greer and any long talk by Bob Dean on YouTube. There are many available technologies suppressed, that would change our approach to adapting to climate change, along with our understanding of life, consciousness and everything about our universe.
If we’re not the first intelligent life, there may be aliens out there that have overcome the limitations we currently experience in space and time. Velocity, gravity, and time are all related. If we knew more about them, we could manipulate space, gravity and time to travel long distances in space through time. Or others may have figured that out and are already here!
We have sufficient evidence. It’s in the classified report. Plus we have Cmdr. Fravor’s eye witness testimony backed by radar returns. What more do you need?
Thank you, Seth, for all the work you do, and for starting this discussion. I'd like to add something I've not seen on this thread, that I think explains much about this topic: zero-point energy. Tesla discovered this early in the last century, that we have the capacity and capability to harness unlimited, 100% clean energy. This explains why, when he died, penniless, all his research was destroyed. Just imagine how the world would change, completely, if we had this kind of energy. It would completely dismantle the world's stranglehold of fossil fuels. This is why I believe we have been in the dark on UFOs (UAP is a bs term our gov't has fed us). Imagine if the world really knew the truth, and how the most destructive and profitable industry was rendered obsolete. Dr. Steven Greer, mentioned on this feed talks all about this. I urge everyone to see his two films (a third is about to be released). The US government has not only known about our celestial neighbors presence on earth, but has reverse engineered their gravity manipulating craft. Why? So that they can continue to stage false flag operations, setting us up for a "confrontation" w our much more advanced visitors. The whole Military Industrial Complex is real, and even our leaders are kept in the dark. It's time the general population of the world knows the truth, and the powers that be are exposed for what they are: greedy, above all else, in both power and money
This is all very interesting, but I hope before October 2021 you will run an "Open Thread" on why, after over 57 years, the government still has over 20,000 documents withheld on the JFK assassination. Go to kennedysandking.com for more info now if you are so inclined, two of the current lead articles are on historian John Newman's book showing JFK's policy on the Indochina intervention was indeed reversed by LBJ, and on how incredibly flimsy the "case" against Oswald was (no chain-of-custody for the alleged assassination weapon, etc.) At the kennedysandking site you can also discover why Sirhan could not possibly have killed RFK, which tends to come as quite a shock to people unfamiliar the key details of the shooting. It's a serious website, they aren't posting wild-eyed nonsense, but rather continuing the work the Warren Commission failed to do and the House Select Committe on Assassinations left unfinished.
President Biden will ultimately decide if the files are released.
As Christopher Hitchens said, the simplest answer is probably the true answer. The simplest answer in this case is that a very small group of enthusiastic young aviators see things they can’t identify and get very excited. My father flew for 40 years and spoke to plenty of pilots who claimed they had seen alien space ships. “Enthusiastic” is a nice word; Dad would say “crack pot.” If Covid showed us anything, it’s that a small group of well educated people, even doctors, will value fantasy over science when someone sticks a microphone in their faces.
One other thing, if you go to trial and don’t want to prove your case, don’t put on your best evidence, don’t call witnesses who saw what happened, don’t call expert who examined the physical evidence, don’t call the doctors who treated the injured people or autopsied the dead. And act like the crap case with lousy witnesses, bad video, etc. is the best you’ve got. That is the equivalent of the govt report released today. Garbage in, garbage out method.
If these “objects” are being observed by the US military on a regular basis then I suggest the following…….
I understand that military aircraft and warships normally track objects using radar and sonar and thermal imaging equipment.
I get that.
But wouldn’t the best form of evidence be high resolution RGB photography or film???
I would of thought that with the vast sums of money being allocated to the US DOD that equipping some of those aircraft and warships with said equipment would be a simple task.
I was a little annoyed that one of the "UFOs" in the report was already known to be a partially deflated balloon, i.e. already debunked. I haven't had the opportunity to read the report, but why would that even be included? If this is the quality of evidence then the vast majority of sightings may have fairly straightforward explanations.
Our military does not have control over US airspace. Full stop. They would NEVER disclose this if they believed these objects to be from foreign (terrestrial) adversaries.
You need to get with Christopher Mellon and Lue Elizondo on this. The government has MUCH more evidence than what has been shared. I’m fairly new to the topic, but I’m now convinced there’s no other credible option besides alien.
Do you think that if the government knew UFO’s existed, they would tell us? Or would it take years for them to release the information? They did release this report, but considering the lack of evidence, I wonder what your thoughts are on this question.
There have been sightings by American and French pilots who spoke and wrote about them after they no longer worked in that field. Also sightings that have been based on credible witness accounts. But so far no scientific findings (that are known) have come to light.
These could be "unmanned" ships that are exploring. Why would aliens want to sit in space ships if they had very advanced technology? They might even be very, very old ships that are "space junk" that is still working.
So far, they don't seem to be hurting people.
I think we would know if Russia or China had this technology.
I can't help noticing that despite the fact that ufos and abductions have generated a large and complex discourse populated by knowledgeable, reasonable, and academically credentialed researchers, very few participants in these open discussions reference any of it or seem bothered by their massive ignorance. If the question were, do you think Shakespeare is a better poet than Milton, or did WW1 invalidate the Victorian notion of progress, hardly anybody who hadn't read Shakespeare and Milton, or studied history or Victorian culture, would hazard an opinion, and the conversations would be dominated by or at least responsive to scholars. But when it comes to UFOs and the like, people are quite prepared to fling themselves into the position of Swift's Yahoos and excrete on any concept they cannot easily condescend to.
I can't think of very many topics that interest me less than this one. Sad there are so many comments relative to the amazing and *of this world* detective work you are doing. <3
Probably because I've always been a huge fan of science fiction, I just assume there's life (of some form) Out There. The universe, even just the galaxy, is far too large and filled with too many worlds where it's possible for life to exist to think otherwise. Wasn't it Carl Sagan who said something along those lines?
As for visiting Earth, well, if you had your choice of vacation spots, would YOU want to come here?
The human species is arrogant, ignorant, crude and dangerous and hell-bent on destroying our home planet. We have such a long way to go to achieve an awareness of something other and, most likely, greater than ourselves. Are we a failed experiment? Sure looks that way, at the moment.
Check out an old but interesting story in the book “The Interrupted Journey”. It’s the story of Betty and Barney Hill from Portsmouth, New Hampshire. I read it long ago and never forgot it. I have seen something very strange and have several friends who have also seen strange lights at night. In my case, I was driving on a deserted road at night when a bright light high above started slowly dropping towards me. It dropped slowly at first then started falling faster until it was straight above me, maybe several hundred feet above. At that point it made a sharp right angle turn and sped away very fast over a hill a mile to my right. It was very disturbing. What do you thing could do that? It was 1988, before drones.
Most of these reports can be explained with the type of photography used such as the above. It was taken with an infrared camera which catches only a temperature difference. The so-called object is just a film of an exhaust plume from a passing aircraft! The reason it changes so much is that the angle changes and the IR signature is blocked by the aircraft and changes the shape of the image. Any photog expert will confirm this. 99.9% of all sitings can be explained like this. I do believe that an advanced alien civilization could be watching us from afar and probably has methods and rules against detection. They study us like we study ant colonies and ancient and primitive civilizations. Their method of travel is far beyond our capabilities and either warps space or their lives are so long that they can travel the 100s of years it would take to get here from other solar systems. I am sure life exists outside of Earth and that will be proven in the Mars missions.
If any highly developped folks from outer space came down here and saw what Trump and his GOP are doing, they'd turn around and speed away full throttle so fast it'd make your head swim. Many greetings from Germany, Detlev
(1) Skeptic groups have been saying for a long time (and being drowned out by the public "imagination") that the question isn't so much, Are these aliens? but most often, Are these objects? Light and sensors and reflections and radar and blips play tricks more often than unknown physical objects defy known physical restraints.
(2) If this discussion is any indication, Proof readers are just as varied in their evidence-orientations as the public at large. I'm not sure how I feel about that! ;-)
Fifty years or more of UFO/UAP phenomena and sightings.
Fifty years or more of incredible advances in motion capture and high resolution digital photography and film.
And despite all that…… we’re still presented with low resolution fuzzy images and video.
Am I missing something????

Maybe it’s all the Belgium beer I’ve been knocking back tonight???
🤔
And to anybody that says the proof is already out there……..
Proof is only proof when it’s out in the public domain and is subject to scientific scrutiny.
As far as I’m aware…. that’s not happened yet.

That is my $0.02
I’m not a UFO buff.
Stephen Miller is proof that aliens not only exist but walk among us. (And that they are not all really nice intergalactic travelers).
Of course I am only joshing but...when you think about it...hmmmm, kinda makes sense, no?
Show us some real believable evidence.
And if you can’t…. then explain why you can’t.
Isn’t the proof witnessing it?
You need to get with Christopher Mellon and Lue Elizondo on this. The government has MUCH more evidence than what has been shared. I’m fairly new to the topic, but I’m now convinced there’s no other credible option besides alien.
Do you think that if the government knew UFO’s existed, they would tell us? Or would it take years for them to release the information? They did release this report, but considering the lack of evidence, I wonder what your thoughts are on this question.
Describe what "sufficient proof" means. Are not our military’s own sensors enough?
what are the chances the UFOs are actually foreign governments using odd shaped aircraft for reconnaissance?
Wait until they deliver the Epsilon 2 variant.
Agree.
At this point in time I am less than lukewarm to the UFO/UAP mystery.
Maybe aliens sent the huge meteorite that destroyed the dinosaurs and allowed humanity to evolve.
I'm not sure how I feel about that! ;-)
I think that the evidence is widely distributed in the government and today's report was the first pass at trying to collect that info.
