More Information
Most of you are already familiar with Proof (and you can read its full history here), but I wanted to add that throughout 2023 Proof will feature The January 6 Files, a new series that offers a comprehensive breakdown of the congressional testimony of some of the leading plotters behind January 6. As a former federal criminal investigator and trial attorney, as well as an independent journalist who has for over two years focused particularly on January 6—including as author of one of the few books that addresses the Pentagon’s role in that terrible day, Proof of Coup: How the Pentagon Shaped An Insurrection (a 250-page nonfiction work that comes free with a Proof subscription)—I’m well-positioned to go through thousands of pages of January 6 testimony with a fine-toothed comb. The January 6 Files have already revealed many surprises from, and sworn lies by, individuals inside Trump’s inner circle who helped plan January 6.
To get a sense of what the series is like, click here to read a major exposé on Charlie Kirk—a young far-right activist who has in recent years become almost an honorary member of the Trump family, and who, during a period his Turning Point USA group was advised by Ginni Thomas and other leading far-right radicals across the country, was personally behind much of the planning for the events of January 6, 2021.
You will be amazed at how much data Proof is able to draw from the “raw” evidentiary record compiled by the House January 6 Committee before it was summarily—and prematurely—disbanded by the House Republican Conference. Other entries in the series have already looked at the aforementioned Ginni Thomas and Julie Jenkins Fancelli, the Trump “mega-donor” who funded the January 2021 pro-Trump rallies.
And of course Proof will continue to offer lengthy essays and investigative reports on other major issues in the United States and around the world, from the war in Ukraine to the ongoing debate over the ethics, legality and near-term consequences of art created by artificial intelligence. As ever, full-subscriber status allows you to comment on all articles, ask questions during Q&As, and even get archival access to video Q&As and other special content.
I hope you’ll join the rapidly growing community of full subscribers to Proof in 2023!
