This breakdown of one of the most dangerous presidential addresses in American history confirms the need for a Senate conviction and rigorous criminal investigation.
If only the American people had the patience and ability to understand this level of nuance and complexity. Reminds me of something I heard a long-time prosecutor of white-collar crime say: the essence of white collar crime is contrived complexity and obfuscation. Make the true explanation of your behavior necessarily complicated so you can counter it with a false narrative that is simple, concise, and emotionally manipulative.
Wonderfully detailed analysis of the events leading up to the insurrection. My question is, what were their plans for the aftermath? The sheer scope of economic, social and governmental upheaval exacted on the nation and world is mind boggling. The military would have also had to be expected to support the coup. What of January 7th, 8th and on? Long term plans had to be in place.
Yes, what were their plans? Did they think that those of us who oppose them would sit quietly at home, stocking up on beans & fatback, wishing we had bought a gun? Not taking to the streets? What did they think the effect would be on the world economy? Would Canada, Mexico, the European Union, the UN, et al just continue as though this were normal? Really, what were they thinking?
Ok, so I used to date a narcissist and one of his favorite moves was to make me feel like he was the only one I could count on and that I had to turn to him because I couldn't rely on/ trust anyone else. Do you guys think that maybe trump didn't put much effort into helping to bolster the Georgia run offs ( resulting in a loss for republicans) to make sure that his base followed him because he was thier only hope or the only one they could rely on?
When did he right his speech for jan 6th was it after the run off, or before? He talked about how the Georgia election was rigged and they ( the republicans) didn't have a chance to win, which I feel would further bolster the crowd's reliance on this "election day". Like to put in more effort for him because it is the only chance they have to "save america".
I remember in his run off election speech woth Kelly Loeffler that he accidently said something like " this is your last chance " but then immediately corrected himself saying like " oh they think I am conceding, but I don't concede."
It might point to him having his true focus on what is going to be better for him the next day- the insurrection on the capitol.
I'm not an expert in human psychology or anything but I survived after 2 years of constant lies and manipulation and this seems like it could be one of those moments!
Stay safe friends! And keep up the great work Seth!!
P.S. And now that I think about it, trump and Lin Wood are friends, right?
I didn't read anything about trump being mad at Wood for telling republicans not to vote in the run off election because it is rigged. Maybe they had a conversation about Wood's speech beforehand?
Coul point to prior knowledge of / setting the stage for, what was expected to come on jan 6th?
Just spit balling, I don't know anything for sure but it might be something to look into!
To be honest, I can barely stand to hear or read any more from this disgusting example of a supposedly human being. Two rounds in a Sig Sauer and a can of gasoline in that revamped White House garden would have been a much more fitting ending for him
This is so well done.
There was also a breakdown of the propaganda film shown after Guiliani's speech by Jason Stanley here https://twitter.com/jasonintrator/status/1357321486227406851?s=19
Thanks for the link. It is well worth watching.

Honestly I hope Raskin and Team are reading this because it's excellent evidence for them to use. Great work!
Doktor Göebbels pulled the same stunts, and Hitler loved the hands-tied metaphor. FYI

I am sorry that my in my disgust with him, I didn’t compliment you for the breakdown Seth. It was terrific.
Holy Cow! You killed it. This is the closest reading I have ever seen, Professor. You are a treasure.
Great read. Thank you for all you do

Good catch! Fixed it.
