You touched on something at the very end but reading this golf cart article, it has become apparent that the Secret Service - between election day and January 6 - had to have more than ample opportunity to overhear what was underway and reason to know this was seditious. These guys (and women) did not fall off the turnip wagon on January 5. If the Secret Service has not turned over to the FBI detailed files and statements documenting the insurrection from election day to January 6, then they should be treated as an enemy organization. You cannot be around a man like Trump for any period of time without your inner alarm going off, telling you he is an enemy of the state and everything he does should be viewed through that lens. The Secret Service had a ringside seat to the insurrection planning, who was coming and going to meetings, and they should have known what Trump’s people and supporters were saying publicly - known based on daily Sec Service briefings if nothing else. Until they have cleared of suspicion, they should be considered a major threat to national security based on their seeming loyalty, collusion, and aiding and abetting Trump’s insurrection, and their proximity to Biden and VP Harris.

Sondland said it best; "Everyone was in the loop." It appears everything trump and his 'people' did during his reign of terror led to 6 Jan. And their treasonous efforts continue.

Aside from what has been written above, I sense a connection between the mega-right-wing and Trump funder Robert Mercer, his daughter, and the insurrection. One of their go-to operatives, Steve Bannon, has had connections to the white-nationalist groups leading the insurrection. Mercer's daughter, Rebekah, has written about the necessity of armed conflict in their struggle: https://theintercept.com/2021/01/27/rebekah-mercer-book-capitol-riot/.

The Mercer's involvement in far-right causes in Europe (Brexit) and Fascism is a matter of record. They also have chosen every path of tax avoidance available to them even at the expense of a decade of litigation with the IRS over a 7 Billion scheme that's even a bigger con than Trump. However, their anti-government stance has been extremely profitable to them. How would you like to have 7 Billion at your disposal while appointing your operatives to advise the POTUS while you traded stocks? Like Trump, they are void of patriotism.

After the Arizona R Chair urged violence at the Capitol, the Mercers rewarded her with 150 Million dollars: https://theintercept.com/2021/01/14/capitol-riot-mercers-election-unrest/.

This must animate the crazy, right-wing extremism of the Arizona Representatives like Gosar. They are swimming in Mercer money, and the Mercer's expect their extremism in return.

Moreover, the Mercer's helped Trump become POTUS (he was trailing by double digits and short on money before they got involved), but part of their deal was Conway and Bannon's appointment as advisors to Trump; while Mercer ran his hedge fund? Apparently, the heat was getting too hot in the kitchen, and Mercer stepped down and said he was cutting back about the same time Mueller was investigating Trump. It appears. However, his daughter took over his mission and his checkbook.

One of Rebekah's ventures was Parler, which played a huge role in organizing and motivating the 1/6/21 Insurrection:

It will not surprise me if the Mercers turn out to be among the major funders, in addition to the Koch money, behind the new R Jim Crow voter suppression efforts, as well as the R opposition to addressing the ravages of neglect after 4 years and 13 Trillion of new Fed debt, spent to make the richest Americans richer while avoiding our critical challenges or as Trump would refer to them as "hoaxes."

Mercer clearly believes human superiority is correlated with what a person earns, which puts him in a rarified position on the stratification ladder. Therefore, he must protect himself from the inferior people he sees as the enemy because they want to take it away from him, and democracy and government make that possible.

The first thing Trump signed onto was the Republican tax con, which basically did away with our progressive income tax system ( the one that actually made America an Empire and supported a rising middle-class) by exempting wealthy people, their corporate wealth, and maintaining a lower rate on pass-through income which co-incidentally is beneficial to people who own businesses like Trump and Mercer:

https://www.brookings.edu/research/9-facts-about-pass-through-businesses/. Now this group pays at a lower rate than the secretaries that they employ:

https://www.brookings.edu/research/9-facts-about-pass-through-businesses/

Of course, this shift in Fed Revenue doesn't really work too well. Yet, not one R raised concerns about the debt and deficit while they were in charge. Even Reagan raised taxes 11 times after encountering rising debt and deficits due to his tax cuts. It took until the end of Clinton's second term to eliminate just the annual deficit, but people believed Trump when he promised to eliminate the entire Fed Debt in 8 years?

The entire R Party remained silent this time around. The Rs were going to wait to raise the alarm in Trump's second term. The one that would establish his Presidency for life and create Serfdom for the rest of America, simply by ending the safety net and other unnecessary programs that actually may help people survive and eventually not become food insecure and/ or sick trying to live on the Fed minimum wage. I'm sure changing the laws against child labor would be a viable option for this group of greedy paranoids.

I find it hard to believe that Trump on his own is capable of carrying out such an intricate operation. So who is really running things? Is it a group? Is there a single person at the head of it? Who has the most to gain?

Expand full comment

No he is an idiot but the people around him (Stone, Alexander, et. al) have the means to organize and facilitate this for him. If they “stop the steal”, injure or murder Pence, Pelosi, etc & destroy the electoral ballots, Trump could declare himself the winner of the election and voila! Four more years of Cheeto Mussolini

I kind of think that the fascist mob behind Trump never really wanted him, but he was the 2016 nominee, and he has no morals or respect for law, and is charismatic in his own strange way, which is useful for them. Once they gain real power, who knows if they keep him around. In any event, a lot of them have had very distinguished careers in their former respectable lives which are very applicable skills for this type of thing. Stone wrote the book on political manipulation, and the Stop the Steal campaign is his baby to the letter (read about the Brooks Brothers riot). Flynn and Bannon both have backgrounds in military intelligence and tactical operations respectively.

I still dont understand "turn on gas". Was gas already prepared? It would take an enormous amount of gas to fill the tunnels. Unless it was weapons grade. It would be hard to hide such a thing. Why have we heard nothing else about it? Seems the most explosive part of the whole story. If they had killed Congress, what was the next phase of the plan? What was the endgame?

Apparently there is a golf cart video but it has not been released yet. Is there a reason why it would be held?

Expand full comment

Seth, I believe this has tRump written all over it. The names of scumbags that repeatedly come into the mixes is staggering. Are there any videos with the logo visible on the golf carts? The next part to figure out is did some scammer pay for *normal* cart and the *special* cart was given?

Any video of the carts driving might shed light on the speed they travelled. Since the landmarks they drove by have not moved (trees, park benches, bus stop signs, sewer-grate covers, and others), and an approximation of where the cameras were filming (I imagine some cameras were fixed locations), one should be able to get a reasonable speed it takes an object to travel from one location to the next. Now obviously if they are traveling at 10 mph, this part would not help, but maybe there exists a part they floored the cart?

Expand full comment

Gas or electric? This might be important to know. I wonder if the speedy ones are all gas, more reliable but noxious on a golf course. Gas powered carts would be noisy, electric very quiet.

Street legal is 20 mph. Minuta, James, and possibly 6 more Oath Keepers jumped in their golf carts and within 3 minutes they were at 3rd St and Pennsylvania Ave NW where they hoofed it on foot to the NE corner of the Capitol. I do not trust my math calculations, so I had an online calculator do the RxT=D. At 15 mph, they were within 0.75 miles and at 20 mph they were within 1.0 mile. And given the fact that the NY Times determined that all the VIP security on Jan 5th showed up at the insurrection on Jan 6th--though they were not identified by name--a good guess would be they retained them from whoever paid for them for the VIP security.

I believe you have zeroed in on Trump’s use of golf carts and that it is all accurate for the insurrection.

I also believe that Trump was in constant communication with Putin during his Presidency and the Golf Course was where these communications took place. Trump did many thing that required substantial knowledge of the Constitution & he’s most likely never read it much less knew how to maneuver around it. Once that golf course communication link has been exposed there will be a great deal that falls into place.
