It's funny how yesterday when we heard the new Sidney Powell info, the penny really dropped and everything suddenly fell into place. We all felt it, didn't we?

I mean, *really* felt it.

Thanks once more Seth for your diligence and your insight in untangling and making sense of this web of deceit. Your work is so important.

Yes, I felt it. It was big. It shifted things in our ability to see the bigger scheme.

Thank you. Please see if we can turn the Proof documentation into a documentary on NetFlix. I need a two hour visual with charts to fully understand.

I am troubled by vague notions about the separation of powers that I am having difficulty framing. We have here members of the legislative branch, who have a specific duty regarding the certification of our nonpartisan election system, conspiring with the executive to enable the executive to maintain power. Even if they felt there was actual voter fraud (and I don't believe they did for a New York minute), the conflict between their duties to the American public and their actions to aid a renegade executive is striking. They in effect switched branches but used the power of their branch in so doing. And the idea that members of Congress could have standing to challenge any act of Congress with which they disagree is a prescription for never-ending litigation by those whose views are in the minority in an effort to overstep the majority. Not to mention the lack of particularized injury. The Congress members mentioned are lawyers; don't our courts expect lawyers to understand the functioning of our justice system and the fundamental principles on which it operates? This is all so distopian.

I pray for the day when all the co-conspirators are arrested and tried. The blaring fact is the trumpistas have ZERO proof of what they are claiming. It's like they are trying to bluff with a pair of deuces and every player at the table knows they have a pair of deuces, and the stakes are the future of our country. But their bluff hasn't been called yet.

THIS.... "bear all the signs of a seditious conspiracy to overthrow the U.S. government." IS the best sentence I have read since Nov. of 2016. Calling all fellow documentary filmmakers: #Michael Moore #Ken Burns #Mitchell Block. Time to ROLL CAMERA!

Getting real close to seditious conspiracy. Wake up Merrick Garland and FBI. So you jobs. Send all of this to the Grand jury. Let them issue indictments. And the Jan 6th congressional committee needs to send criminal referrals to the DOJ. Thx Seth for tying it together. We are close now.

Expand full comment

When I consider the gravity of what was attempted, I continue to not understand why DOJ has not issued indictments, and arrest warrants in many cases, for what is now most obviously a seditious conspiracy. I don't understand why Trump is allowed to continue to openly push that same conspiracy without any consequences. He is obviously pushing the Big Lie to his tiny brained supporters and there isn't even so much as a warning letter from DOJ. Are they waiting for enough evidence to make their case rock solid before going public? What else could they possibly need? Are they being restrained because of the threat of violence by Trumpist that Trump continues to foment or the political fallout? Sure, that might come but DOJ cannot let this just slide or they will continue until they are successful. Are they waiting for Biden's infrastructure bills to go through first (a distinct consideration)? Are they waiting for criminal referrals from the Jan. 6 Select Committee? Or are they ignoring this whole thing for whatever reason Merrick Garland feels is just? I just know that if this situation was the other way around, a GQP DOJ as well as the GQP politicians in general, would be aggressively going after Democrats who had committed the same crimes

Totally agree. I do not understand the hesitancy of Merrick garland DOJ what are they waiting for? If we, Dems do not get off their ass now it’s just like condoning it and we’re asking for it to happen again and again and again it’s so frustrating. I truly hate questioning Biden‘s choice for a G but I Think it’s time we see some real action.

I think it's a kind of Triage concept. They are having to focus on what is the worst situation here, whether they need to first get to the Country's heart, its breathing, or its bleeding problem, and then having to pick their battles.

Seth, I really wish you would go on MSNBC or PBS and show folks how all these pieces fit together. A documentary would be better because of the length/detail factor, but I just can't believe how far behind you major media always seem to be with this stuff. Argh!

That seems to put lots of pieces together. I love to see the puzzle shape itself and you do such a very fine job of communicating how the pieces fit.

I wonder though, about the intent of the funding sources of these seditionist politicians. I would relish learning more about the powers behind these traitors. I mean what multinational wants to try and sell Toyota’s or toilet paper to people who work 3 jobs and eat beans 5 nights a week? Wouldn’t it make better sense to make sure your consumers had the where with all and the cash to buy all the must have plastic crap. I mean the oil tyrants have so much and no one is trying to string them up yet, you’d think they’d finish swallowing and go sit on a beach. I’m sure the answer is they are sociopaths or religious nut-jobs, but aren’t their a few sane people to stop them from burning the planet to a cinder. Just really wanted to say thanks for the horrifying news and please keep safe.

And Gohmert is a religious zealot! Member of Greenacres Baptist church in Tyler TX, epicenter of typical theocratic delusions…dangerous and pernicious! East TX also hosts high percentage of radical ”militia”, sovereign citizen types and white supremacists who embrace the South Shall Rise again mentality. Most extreme example being the murder of James Byrd in Jasper TX! Serious stuff, but you probably already knew that.

In 2014, Russian operatives sneaked into Crimea and took over their Parliament. People were confused because they weren't wearing insignia on their camouflage, and I think the majority of Crimeans have Russian ethnicity. At first, it seemed like citizens of Crimea rioting. These guys showed up, broke the windows and climbed in.

The special operators rounded up the members of the Parliament and made them vote. There was a cover of legality, but it was really a coup. Even Putin admitted later that those were his guys.

This coup in Ukraine happened right after there was a revolution in Kiev and the Russian-backed President Yanukovych fled to Moscow. Putin claims that the US was behind that revolution, though he has produced no proof. He blames Hilary Clinton.

Anyway, the dictator Putin has been very angry and vengeful against America since Ukraine revolted against the Russian-backed President of Ukraine Yanukovych.

If you look at what Russian GRU (military intelligence) operatives did in Ukraine as well as the attempted coup against the Parliament in Montenegro (2016) when they wanted to vote to join NATO, there are a lot of similarities. In both cases, the Russian hand was hidden and the uprising seemed to be citizens of those countries.

We have had a lot of GRU interference since Trump ran for President. The coup attempt in Montenegro was by GRU Unit 29155. They do subversion, sabotage, and assassination. They blow up arms depots in E. Europe and poison people.

I think GRU Unit 29155 was involved in the Crimean coup, but certainly it was some GRU units.

I think it very likely that the GRU played some role in the attack on the Capitol. It just looks so much like a classic Russian operation.

I have no secret insights, but read about the attack on Crimea's parliament and also google GRU Unit 29155. There are other numbered units, such as those that do hacking; but 29155 is the really violent unit.

I am not saying this happened, but that's what it looks like to me. Maybe people here don't think the Russians would dare to help attack our Congress. I am telling you that these guys are extremely bold and so is Putin. I hope our government experts are considering this possibility.

I think the terrorist attack on the Capitol and the plan to subvert the election and install Trump had Russian help. This kind of complicated planning where a lot of the participants don't really know exactly what they are doing is very Russian.

The interference of GRU units in the 2016 election is discussed in the Mueller Report, but I think that when Trump lost the election they had a violent back-up contingency.

Probably some Russia experts have had my thoughts. Maybe that is why this investigation is so sensitive. Who knows. I hope someone is investigating what I think I see. I think Russian participation in the insurrection is why Republicans don't want an investigation.

Interesting! I wonder if in all those meetings with Russian cutouts, the Russians simply gave them the roadmap and they implemented it- which would explain why it went so terribly wrong from their perspective and why Trump was so furious (it worked for everyone else, after all).

Well, General Flynn had been head of the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), right?

His time running the DIA (July 24, 2012 – August 7, 2014) overlaps with the Coup in Crimea (Feb-March 2024). The Russian counterpart of the DIA is the GRU (now officially the GU). Obama fired him because he had some issues.

What happened here reminds me of Hitler's Enabling Act and what followed. He got the German Reichstag to vote to give him the power to make the laws.

This is not over yet. The subversives are desperate and will now stop at nothing. If they don't stay in power, they will eventually be prosecuted.

Who masterminded this? Not Trump. Ultimately, I think it was someone who does not understand that the majority of Americans would never accept this kind of coup, even with its thin cover of "legality." The dictator would have had to really have mass arrests and assassinations.

Judge Alito was appointed to the Supreme Court with a recommendation from Trump's sister Maryanne, who was a judge he worked for. Small world, huh?

I remember when Gohmert said something along the lines of "We have to resort to violence because we lost in court. What other choice do we have?"

That is a paraphrase, but basically what he said. I thought that was really scary. There is another choice: accept that you lost.
