The HJ6C did a great job dragging americans along for the ride. But it is not comprehensive nor complete. The military stand down and secret service and fbi infiltration and stand down are barely investigated. And repubs are waiting them out. Don't see Schumer as a stand up proactive kind of leader. And it might be true that many americans are tired of Jan. 6th. But unless this coup is totally exposed and all actors punished, it will persist. So it has to continue in either the House or the Senate. And perhaps a special prosecutor, which would have to be appointed prior to the mid term elections. Hope Biden is beefing up the budget of DOJ so they can continue their slow, plodding work. And Biden needs to get rid of Wray, head of Secret Service, trump appointed inspector generals to at least we can see some accountability. What a long, depressing nightmare this has been from the escalator ride to today. Meanwhile, the planet burns!

The most depressing thing i have ever read - it seems impossible for those who love truth & want decency to ever prevail against this horror that trump has wrought, but it's not trump who is really the main problem, it's so huge because it's the culmination of the desires of a whole group of Americans who are determined to take away any power of those they consider NOT the true inheritors of the American Idea - they see the voting of ALL Americans as a direct threat now to their own survival - and hence the yearning for a Russia-lite system in which they can stifle any rise of popular power just as the Russians stifle their Far-Eastern citizens, and make it all about just white men & what they regard as their right to govern ! IOW white men now recognize they are outnumbered & are determined to stop where this is going !

Thank you, Mr. Abramson, for another (and overwhelming) report and analysis. One point hasn't been made so far, an assessment of physical health of Trump. Isn't it logical there would be health issues considering his age, diet, and lifestyle? What would happen if Trump had a stroke or heart attack? Who could (or would) take his place? Could MAGA survive without their fearless leader?

Seth, I know you probably don't want people to say this, but I'm just sick and tired of all of this. I hate trump and all his cronies. And I hate having to deal with people who voted for him--not once, which is bad enough, but twice, which is unforgivable. And they will gladly vote for him a third time. I live in a very red state. My bigoted, anti-vaxxer sisters and elderly mother are trumpers. I can stand it! I love my daughter, son and grandkids very much, and I want what is best for them. Please tell me: what, in your opinion, would be the best country for us to move?? I've been to New Zealand and would like to go there, but they probably don't want any Americans. What do you suggest? I'm dead serious.

The countries my wife and I sometimes daydream about are Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, with Canada being the most promising—it has so many cities we absolutely love and could easily see ourselves living in, including Toronto, Montreal, Edmonton, Vancouver, Saskatoon, and Winnipeg. And I bet I would say the same of Québec City, Calgary, and Ottawa if I had been to those. Whitehorse is beautiful, but of course quite small and remote.

A question: Does anyone know who the man seated to Chairman Thompson's right during the 9th hearing is? Couldn't read his name plate but it might say "counsel". I think it might be Timothy J. Heaphy, the lead investigator for the House Select Committee (as per the wiki page for the Committee). TIA

The biggest illusion of all is the Trumpist attacks alleging voter fraud with the voting machines by the democrats when the GOP only gets elected by changing votes using the easily hacked voting machines in red state America. It is the exact same tactic used by calling all of the genuine Russian collusion a hoax and attacking the faux deep state. Here is an honest statement of fact. If our voting systems were legit and all votes were counted correctly democrats would get 65% of the vote and republicans would control zilch. Instead we are on the verge of a total takeover by the fascists! PS Dominion managed to get a legit system into Georgia in 2020 and the GOP has been throwing all punches to eliminate it.

Whew! Lots to think about here, Seth. I, too, have been wondering the avenues to keep the J6 research and activities going. Great thoughts here. I hope your government connections are thinking along your lines as well.

This is a good question, Judith. It could be that Garland fears that appointing a special counsel would make it look like *he* thinks the investigation is political—i.e., like Main Justice is biased, when he (Garland) would say it is not and there is no evidence it is. So this could be an optics issue.

Having said that, so far the probe of the January 6 coup plotters (as opposed to the foot soldiers, of whom 900+ have been arrested already) is such a failure—everything started far too late, and far too hesitantly, and far too incompetently—that there is no question a special counsel would have been preferable for at least *that* part of the overall January 6 investigation (i.e., the investigation of Trump and his political and business cronies and their agents).

But I suspect that ship has sailed by now.
